Unfortunately, we continue to see a surge in hospitalized COVID-19 patients and state models continue to predict a steady climb for the remainder of September. Today the number of COVID positive inpatients is more than 2.5 times what it was just less than a week ago.
Emergency Department: We continue to see much higher daily patient volumes than normal, resulting in increased patient wait times to be seen and treated.
Inpatient Surgery: We are currently evaluating elective inpatient surgeries on a day-by-day basis.  Like many other hospitals, we may reach a point soon where we will have to cancel all elective surgeries if our inpatient volumes continue to increase due to COVID.
Inpatient Care: We currently have 27 patients on our Med Surg floor, with 4 of those patients in our Special Care Unit.  16 of our patients are Covid positive with 3 of those on ventilators.  100% of our current hospitalized patients under the age of 70 are NOT vaccinated.  See charts below for patient volumes and ages of current hospitalized patients.
Vaccination & Testing: The Indiana Department of Health is holding COVID-19 testing and vaccination clinics Monday, Sept. 13 – Wednesday, Sept. 15, from Noon until 8 pm each day at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. Walk-ins are welcome for the rapid tests, while registration for the shot is being taken at www.ourshot.in.gov.
