Back-to-back losses for Batesville varsity girls basketball last week had them sitting at 5-16 on the season with one game remaining before the 2022 postseason. The Lady Bulldogs finished the season 1-6 in Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference games.

Thursday, Batesville hosted Rushville and lost to the Lady Lions, 55-27. Down 32-10 at the half, BHS was only able to put up four points in the third quarter but managed to put up 13 points in the final frame in the 28-point loss.

Freshman Alyson Peters scored the first basket of the game before the Lady Lions went on a 20-0 run. Two minutes into the second frame, the Lady Bulldogs got back on the scoreboard and hit four of their six shots to go into the half down 31-10.
Another basket from Peters and a pair of free throws are all BHS could muster in the third frame. Batesville had five different players score in the fourth period and added 13 to their total. The Lady Lions scored 14 in the final frame to take the big victory.

BHS was led in scoring by Peters with 8, followed by Annie Negovetich and Claire Saner with 4 points apiece, Calley Kaiser 3 and Sarah Ripperger, Breanna Wells, Carley Pride and Lydia Haskamp each with 2.
Saturday afternoon, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Greensburg and played even with the Lady Pirates through the first quarter, trailing by just one point at 14-13. Haskamp hit two late buckets in the second quarter, but it was too little, too late as Greensburg had started the frame on a 10-0 run and went to halftime up 31-19.

BHS pulled within 10 after going on a 6-0 run in the third frame but a late three by GCHS freshman Mylie Wilkison put her team up 42-30 going into the final quarter. Kaiser scored five of the Lady Bulldogs' seven fourth-quarter points as the Bulldogs fell by a score of 58-37. Kaiser led BHS in scoring with 15; Peters, Haskamp and Emma Weiler each scored 4, Pride and Saner both finished with 3 and Ripperger and Sophie Gesell scored 2 each.
BHS hosted South Decatur Tuesday (result not available at press time) and has a rematch date with host Greensburg in the Sectional 29 nightcap on Groundhog Day.
