A second-half comeback by the Oldenburg Academy Twisters Saturday afternoon wasn't quite enough to get past visiting Greenwood Christian Academy on Homecoming Day 2022. The hosts held a one-point advantage with just under six minutes remaining, but the Cougars finished on a 9-2 run to give OA its ninth loss of the season.

After a turnover, Ian Reed popped a 3-pointer to put GCA up 41-39 and Twister head coach Gary Moorman called timeout at 4:49. OA's next two possessions also resulted in turnovers in the form of a 3-second violation and offensive push-off. Between those, talented sophomore Max Booher connected on one of his three treys to give Greenwood a 5-point lead.
A curl in the lane by senior Frank Moorman made it 44-41, though OA could get no closer in the final 2:53 as the Cougars dropped in 3 of 4 at the foul line.

A good inside-out game by the guests kept the Twisters at bay through the opening two quarters. Booher and 6-foot-4-inch pivot Matt Teike scored a combined 20 of the Cougars' first-half points as GCA went into the locker room ahead 29-18.

Oldenburg returned with a vengeance, playing almost flawlessly for the next 10 minutes of action.
Just as they had to start the game, the Twisters looked inside to 6-3 post Abe Streator. The senior's bucket brought OA within nine early in the second half. In transition, sophomore Jacob Cornelius found senior CJ Grote for two and the latter shared the rock with Streator for a field goal a minute later.
Teike pushed the GCA lead back to 31-24 by scoring in the paint, but Grote converted twice from the left wing – both inside and outside the arc - to make it a 2-point affair. Teike went to his left for the second of the Cougars' two hoops in the third; in the final two minutes, Moorman asserted himself with a reverse follow-up and traditional 3-point play to give OA its first lead since 2-0.

To start the fourth, Noah Reed flipped the lead with a 3-pointer. Streator's old-fashioned 3-pointer then put the Twisters on top, 37-36. Freshman Jacob Stenger nailed a long 2-pointer, followed by Booher's mid-range answer.
Back-to-back threes by Booher and I. Reed produced a 6-2 early lead for the Cougars. Grote got the second of three first-quarter assists by feeding classmate Nick Folop for two. This repeated itself a minute later and OA trailed by one, 7-6. Teike stepped out for a corner triple and Booher put in a reverse layup.

Doubled up at 14-7, the Twisters closed the first period with a Folop 10-footer and Stenger's putback off a break.
Five points by Booher in the opening two minutes of quarter two had Moorman calling time with his team down 19-11. Booher scored again on a finger roll. A feed to Cornelius netted two but N. Reed responded for a 23-13 GCA cushion. A stickback for Streator preceded goals by Parker Satre and Teike. Stenger's 3 briefly made it a single-digit deficit before Teike scored with time running out in the half.
Booher led all players with 20 points and Teike added a dozen. Streator's 11 paced OA.

OA goes north for a cross-county game with Franklin Co today, Jan. 26; the Wildcats have won 11 straight. A road trip to Jac-Cen-Del follows on Friday.
